About the event

The Astronomy of Planetary Cycles

This class will cover the visual aspect of the planetary cycles with the Sun and Earth. The Venus and Mercury cycles include two periods of invisibility between the various phases of morning visibility and  evening visibility. The planets from Mars outward undergo one period of invisibility and have phases of evening visibility, all night visibility and morning visibility. We will cover where the retrograde fits into these phases for all planets and the greatest elongations for Mercury and Venus.

We will discuss what each of these phases mean astrologically along with various methods to determine the phase when looking at a horoscope.  We will also cover their larger Planet-Earth-Sun cycles and gain an understanding of the mandalas created by these three-body cycles.

Week 1:  The Venus Cycle

Week 2:  The Mercury Cycle

Week 3:  The Mars Cycle

Week 4:  The Jupiter and Saturn Cycles

Julene Louis has been a teaching and consulting astrologer for twenty-four years. She holds ISAR-CAP, Jyotish Visharada, and Jyotish Ratna certifications. As an avid backyard astronomer who enjoys teaching astronomy to astrologers, she started writing a Sky Watch column in 2000 for the International Academy of Astrology that was picked up by The Mountain Astrologer magazine in 2005. Wanting to bring the living sky to more astrologers, she co-founded the Sky Astrology Conference with Gary Caton and Adam Gainsburg in 2015.
